About Great Chocolate
Personal note: Great chocolate is not just a pleasant indulgence. It turns out that the cacao fruit, from which REAL chocolate is made, is the best vegetable source of inflammation-fighting antioxidants known.
Youngevity’s offerings come from that fruit, not from a waxy substance that’s more akin to sarin than chocolate — but which does melt at a higher temperature. That higher melting point makes other products more stable on grocery shelves and gives them a higher gloss.
Face it, though, it’s considerably cheaper than the real thing.
It has no anti-oxidant value though. They even have to add cocao-flavor to it. Read the labels.
I’m old enough to remember before the waxy substance was added to candy bars. Youngevity uses none of that paraffin-like wax, which is probably why the taste is so superior.
There’s a large controversy over chocolate. Some of it (never Youngevity) is sourced in ways that cause massive deforestation. In 2009, the largest manufacturers vowed to obtain their raw material only from “sustainable cacao” but since the market is so highly competitive, in 2020, that has not happened. In 2017, a whopping 40 football fields worth of tropical forest was lost every minute, although other crops contributed to the loss.
Youngevity doesn’t ship some of their choc. products when it’s hot, so get ’em while you can. We stock up for summer.
